Not really, but I got a Marantz receiver last year, and I’m blown away by how good it sounds
What kind of setup do you use to play music at home?
Aforementioned Marantz receiver, trash picked homemade speakers from the 60s that have high quality vintage components, Technics SL-1200 MK5 turntable that Ben Blackwell gave me after his childhood home burnt down (it survived the fire).

Daniel Kroha
Daniel Kroha (født Daniel Charles Knohn 30. mai 1965) er en amerikansk musiker, låtskriver og gitarist fra Detroit i Michigan. Han er særlig kjent for sin rolle i den innflytelsesrike garage-rock-scenen som vokste fram i Detroit fra slutten av 1980-tallet, og regnes i dag som en sentral skikkelse i amerikansk undergrunnsrock.
Under navnet Danny Kroha, og tidvis aliasene Danny Doll Rod og Hotep Nefti, har han vært involvert i en rekke band og prosjekter som på ulike måter har bidratt til å definere og videreutvikle garagerockens uttrykk. Krohas musikalske arbeid kjennetegnes av en sterk forankring i blues, tidlig rhythm and blues og rock’n’roll, kombinert med punkens energi og en konsekvent gjør-det-selv-holdning.
Kroha er først og fremst kjent som gitarist og vokalist i The Gories, bandet han startet i 1986 sammen med Mick Collins og Peggy O’Neill. The Gories ble raskt et av de viktigste bandene i Detroit-miljøet og fikk stor betydning for det som senere er blitt omtalt som byens garage-rock-revival. I en periode der mye alternativ rock beveget seg mot et mer polert uttrykk, sto The Gories for noe rått, direkte og kompromissløst. Musikken var enkel i formen, men rik på referanser til tidlig amerikansk populærmusikk.
Bandet ga ut tre album mellom 1989 og 1992, som alle senere har fått klassikerstatus innen sjangeren. Med korte låter, skitten gitar og en bevisst primitiv produksjon ble The Gories et viktig referansepunkt for både samtidige og senere band, ikke bare i Detroit, men også internasjonalt.
Etter at The Gories ble oppløst tidlig på 1990-tallet, fortsatte Kroha å være aktiv i ulike musikalske sammenhenger. Sammen med Margaret Doll Rod dannet han Demolition Doll Rods, et band som kombinerte fuzzpreget garagerock med et mer teatralsk og visuelt uttrykk. Under aliaset Danny Doll Rod var Kroha med på å utvikle bandets særegne stil, der musikk, performance og estetikk ble tett vevd sammen.
I årene som fulgte har Kroha vært involvert i flere prosjekter, blant annet Rocket 455, Danny And The Darleans, Danny Kroha And The Del Torros og The Readies. Disse bandene viser ulike sider av hans musikalske interesser, fra rendyrket garagerock til tydeligere innslag av soul og tidlig rock’n’roll. Felles for prosjektene er en respekt for musikkhistorien og et tydelig håndverksperspektiv.
Som gitarist er Daniel Kroha kjent for en spillestil der uttrykk og rytme er viktigere enn teknisk perfeksjon. Han har ofte brukt enkle instrumenter og forsterkere, og har vært tydelig skeptisk til både virtuosdyrking og overdreven studioproduksjon. I stedet har han søkt et direkte uttrykk som ligger tett på musikkens røtter.
Daniel Kroha har aldri vært en mainstream-artist, men hans betydning innen garagerock og undergrunnsmusikk er vanskelig å overvurdere. Med Detroit som utgangspunkt har han vært med på å forme en musikalsk tradisjon som fortsatt lever videre, både gjennom egne prosjekter og gjennom band som har latt seg inspirere av hans arbeid.
