Sølvberget Library and Culture Centre
Sølvberget Library and Culture Centre is the main library in Stavanger and a hub for cultural activities in the Rogaland Region. Its central location and array of cultural offers make Sølvberget a natural meeting place in Stavanger and one of the country’s most visited and diverse cultural institutions.
Sølvberget consists of the following libraries, which all play an important part in the region and their local communities; Sølvberget Library and Culture Centre, Madla Library, Rennesøy Library, Finnøy Library.

With Self-Service Library Card you can also access the library before and after opening hours, from 08.00am - 09.00pm. Use your library card and pin code. The self-service library can be used by anyone above age 16. You will be given access to the self-service library at the counter at the 1. floor by presenting your library card.

Sølvberget brings people together through a variety of platforms and events - with its own art gallery, cinematheque, literature festival, centre for critical thinking, makerspace and much more.

Free Internet/Wi-Fi at the Library

You can use free internet and PCs at the library. All visitors are welcome to use the wireless network. Use of both wireless network and PCs is free. SK-PUBLIC is the network that the public can use.
Rules for use of the library's wireless network:
Norwegian law applies to the library. Misuse of the library's wireless network may result in police and criminal liability. The library's wireless networks offer no content filtering, spam or viruses. Users of the wireless network must therefore ensure that it has adequate protection of own machine in the form of firewalls and antivirus programmes. The library's public wireless network is open and used by many visitors. Be cautious about sharing private and sensitive information over the library's wireless network. Do not use personal net services like banking and Restricted services unencrypted over the wireless zone. The library is not responsible for loss or misuse of data transmitted over the wireless zone.
Access to Library Computers

The library has available computers with internet on the 1st floor, the Facts Library on the 3rd floor, as well as on the Children and Youth Library on 2. floor, reserved for users under age 18. It is free to use the library PC’s.
Print, Scan and Copy

With the printing solution Princh you can print assignments, tickets, exams or other at the library - from the library’s computer, your personal computer, smartphone or tablet. Print outs costs 3 kr per sheet for black/white print and 5 kr per sheet for colour printing. All prints go to printers on the 1st floor.
From the library's PCs: To print from the library’s public computers, select Print and a dialog box pops up where you can choose whether to print in colour, number of copies, etc.. The price you have to pay is also there, you must pay by card (VISA, Mastercard) or book printing and pay cash at the counter. If you pay by card, it will print out immediately. If you pay cash, go to the counter, pay and get the prints. From your own computer, tablet or smartphone: Go to the website print.princh.com, enter the printer's number (100 286 for the printer on the ground floor, 100 288 for the printer at Madla Library) and then upload it for print. If you want to print a web page, you must either save the page on your PC as PDF or take screenshot, then pay.
Rent an Office at Sølvberget (free)

Are you a writer and need a place to write for a limited period? At the Kielland Centre at Sølvberget, you can book an office or meeting room for free on the 4th floor.
Who can use the offer?
Writers with a connection to Rogaland or working on a project for Sølvberget or in Stavanger will be prioritised, and can rent the rooms for limited writing periods, for collaborative projects, meetings or shorter stays in Stavanger. The offices may be used by anyone who works with text production, either in form of a novel, textbook, cartoons, film script, song lyrics or the like. The offices can be used on an hourly basis but can also be booked for longer periods. Send your request through this form (in Norwegian).
The rooms have a key and can be used within the opening hours of the library, including self-service hours. The rooms have table, chairs, power outlets and Wi-Fi.
